BBX Companion - Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BBX Companion (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores and protects personal data when you use the BBX Companion mobile application (the “App”). The App is developed and operated by Fabio Coelho, based in Germany.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data when you use the App:

• Email address — required for registration and sign-in to your account.
• Nickname — the display name you choose for your profile.
• Country — optional; the user may enter their country, which is displayed on their profile.
• Profile photo — optional; provided voluntarily and used as your profile picture.
• Bluetooth-derived proximity/location data — used to detect other nearby BBX Companion users for the App’s "find nearby members" feature. The App uses Bluetooth signals to estimate proximity; no precise GPS coordinates are collected or stored on our servers.

3. Purpose of processing

We process personal data for the following purposes:

• To create and maintain your user account (email address).
• To display your chosen nickname, country, and optional profile photo within the App.
• To enable the proximity-based feature that helps you discover nearby BBX Companion users via Bluetooth scans.
• To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.

4. Legal basis

Our lawful bases for processing are:

• Processing your email address for account creation and login is necessary for the performance of the contract between you and us (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• Processing of profile photos, country, and optional data is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) where applicable.
• Processing Bluetooth proximity data is necessary for the legitimate interest of providing the App’s core feature (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We only process the minimum data needed to enable the functionality and do not share it with third parties.

5. Third parties and data sharing

We do not share personal data with third-party analytics providers, advertising networks, or other external parties. The App does not integrate third‑party tracking or analytics services (for example Google Analytics, Firebase or similar).

6. Data storage and location

All personal data processed by BBX Companion is stored on secure servers located in Frankfurt, Germany. Your data is processed within the European Union and will not be transferred to countries outside the EU/EEA.

7. Data retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the App and its services, to comply with legal obligations, or to resolve disputes. Specifically:

• Account data (email, nickname, country, profile photo): retained while the account exists and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal obligations or prevent abuse (typically up to 12 months after account deletion, unless a different retention period is required by law).
• Bluetooth proximity data: used transiently for the "find nearby" feature and not stored persistently on our servers in a way that can be linked to your identity.

8. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The App can be used by children. We do not intentionally collect more personal data from children than is necessary for the operation of the App. If you are a parent or legal guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us at contact@foreith.com. We will take steps to remove the information as required by applicable law.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your personal data (right to be forgotten), where applicable.
• Request restriction of processing.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Request data portability where applicable.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing based on consent before withdrawal.
